On June 7th, 2012, the Board of Trustees approved the purchase of new technology equipment to enhance the academic program in Rancho Santa Fe. Recognizing the need to continue the development of digitally literate students, we will be increasing the amount and quality of technology options for students. Most notable will be the use of iPads by middle school students. Each student will be issued a district-owned iPad for the school year. The iPad will be a student launchpad, unleashing great potential for creativity, collaboration, learning and organization. This device, combined with a new learning management system, will enable learning anytime, anywhere. In addition, each K-6 classroom will be equipped with six iPads to promote and encourage personalization and differentiation of learning. Older desktop computers in grades K-5 will be upgraded in order to run new operating systems and software needed for our students to stay competitive. Throughout the 2011-2012 school year, focus groups involving teachers, parents and students worked to create outcomes and goals for promoting digital literacy.
District outcomes for the technology initiative include:
- Greater student engagement and achievement
- Opportunities for inquiry and collaboration among learners
- Immediate learning and access to content
- Application and demonstration of knowledge in creative and meaningful ways
- Differentiated learning experiences
- Reduction of paper and pencil type tasks
- Automation of skill based learning
- Preparation for high school, college and beyond

Parent accounts for the SIS and LMS are now online
We are happy to announce the Student Information System(SDOL) and Learning Management System(Canvas) are ready for parents to use for the 2012-2013 school year. Within SDOL you will find your child's schedule, classes, current school year report cards, and attendance information. Canvas provides parent access to grades, assignments, class calendars, and more. Once you have provided the school office with your current e-mail address in writing and in person on the emergency contact card, your account(s) will be activated by school staff within 48 hours. Please note that your login information will work in both systems but is controlled by SDOL. Once you change your password in SDOL, it will be updated in Canvas within fifteen seconds. You may change your password but not your Login ID (e-mail address). Changes to guardian e-mail addresses must be made in person in the school office as noted above. To begin using the systems:
PLEASE NOTE: passwords you create will be lower case, even if you create them with upper case characters. Example- if you change your password to 1234RSF, the actual password you need to use thereafter would be 1234rsf.
Click on the web address provided below. Enter your e-mail address for the Login ID. If you remember your password from last year, enter it. If not, select 'Forgot My Password' and use the temporary password within the subsequent e-mail you will receive to login. You will then be prompted to change your password in order to complete the registration process.

Thereafter, you will have access to Canvas via the link below using the same Login ID and password.
